A United states Music Association (CMA) was founded within 1958 in Nashville, Tennessee. It originally consisted of single 233 members & was the foremost trade organization formed to promote a musical genre. At first, CMA's Board of Directors involved nine directors & 5 officers. Wesley Rose, president of Acuff-Rose Publishing, Inc., served as CMA's first chairman of the board. Broadcasting enterpriser & executive Connie B. Gay was the founding president. Originally there were nine single membership categories.
